December 16

Hello Garden and Mountain Families.

This week we focused on a theme of ‘winter.’ We read What Season Is It, I Love Winter, Snowballs, and The Snowy Day. We talked a lot about snow, and cold, and looked at pictures of different winter scenes. A couple pictures showed children catching snowflakes in their mouths and making snow angels, which the children spent extra time looking at. It is always fun to watch them learn about new things.

For art projects this week, the Mountain children had quite a bit going on. They made snow globes by painting with marbles inside a container, and then pasting a snowman on. They also stamped paint with pipe cleaners to make snowflakes. The process is always a good exploratory activity for them, but they have also started showing interest in the finished products: they like to look at and point to the artwork being displayed.

We had the opportunity to get outside a few times this week, which was nice to get some fresh air. There was still some snow on the playground, so the children got to explore that. They enjoyed feeling it, holding it, and, of course, a few put some in their mouths.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
