March 10

Good afternoon Birch families,

This week the Birch class focused their attention on healthy foods and exercise.  During small circle, the children listened along to the books Eating the Alphabet, The Vegetables We Eat, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Feel Good Book. The class also sang along to the songs “Apples and Bananas” and “Bananas Unite”

Practical life skills continued to grow by folding baby blankets, using the food cutting materials, transferring water with an eye dropper, matching up healthy foods and working with the cupcake shape matching work.

The children continued to enhance their large motor skills by working on their balance by walking across the wooden beams outside, climbing up the rock wall outside, playing “Red light, green light” and jumping over small cones.

During music with Ms. Kathleen, the Birch class practiced making “Ba ba” sounds into the microphone, listened along to different bird sounds, danced with scarves and used tambourines and jingle bells to create music.

During P.E. with Ms. Kira, the children practiced sorting fruits and vegetables, played a bean bag toss game, imitated animal actions and practiced walking on tip-toes.

Next week, we will be turning our attention to Irish Culture and St. Patrick’s Day!

Have a wonderful weekend!
