Dear River Families,
This week in River we continued studying owls and bats! We had a wonderful trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Isabelle Farms. This week the children listened to a silly story about monsters and used fun art materials to create, “silly creatures”. We read a few “spooky” stories and riddles while identifying words that seem spooky. We discussed scary/not scary and identified why some things might seem scary but are not. Then, we made a book that is in each book bag titled, “In the dark of the Night”. New sight words were introduced and the children worked to build our new sight words with magnetic letters and the moveable alphabet. We did math with the pumpkin that your child chose from Isabelle Farms! We discussed what making a prediction means and made predictions about the weight in pounds and the height in unifix cubes that our pumpkins would be!
We measured our class pumpkin and predicted the amount of seeds inside! Next week we will work together to clean out the pumpkin, separate the seeds then enjoyed baking and tasting them with sea salt and olive oil! In addition to pumpkin predictions, we continued working with our math workbooks focusing on counting and writing numbers. In peace lesson, Ms. Charlotte facilitated the children in dramatizing, “The Magic Crystal”. Ask your child about the story!
We are looking forward to celebrating Halloween by dressing up on Tuesday and the following day Wed 11/1 is Pajama Day! I can’t believe that it will be our 50th day of school on Monday! Wow, the year is flying already! No shares until November 7th. Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Kira
