This Week in Aspen

Hello Aspen Families,

This week in Aspen we have focused on winter animals. We read lots of books like The Mitten, The Biggest Snowman Ever, and Five Little Penguins Slipping on the Ice and we talked about all the winter animals we saw in the books. We also started introducing spatial awareness with direction words like around, underneath, above, in front of, and behind. We practiced with a group activity moving winter animals around above and beneath blocks.

In music we listened the story The Marvelous Toy, danced with scarves to holiday music, played jingle bells, and sang holiday songs.

In Spanish we learned Christmas vocabulary words like Christmas Tree, lights, presents, Santa, and ornaments. We also reviewed counting, color words, and food.

For literacy this week we focused on rhyming. We sang Hickory Dickory Dock  and listened for all the rhyming words in our song.

For P.E. this week we had an obstacle course where the children hopped to different lily pads, crawled through a “bear cave”, and balanced on a balance beam.

We had a great short week in Aspen. Have a safe and wonderful holiday long weekend!!
