January 12

Dear Birch families,

This week, the Birch class turned their attention to winter animals.  During morning circle, the children listened to the books, Sleep Bear, Animals In Winter and The Mitten.  The children also washed toys in the sensory table, and looked at leaves under a magnifying glass.  They enjoyed using crayons and water colors, and painting with red paint on white paper.

During music with Ms. Kathleen, the children sang “Baa Baa Black Sheep” while holding Kathleen’s special little stuffed black sheep!  We also danced with scarves to drum music, then we had a marching band parade in our classroom!

The children are still practicing to use just one pump of soap when washing hands and just one paper towel while drying thier hands.   Everyone is practicing using words with our friends and teachers, such as, “my work” and “more please”, and we  putting our own blankets away after nap.

The Birch class continued to enhance their large motor skills by kicking balls, climbing up in the loft and the play structure, playing “Ring Around The Rosie”, and tossing bean bags into a basket.

Next week, we will be focusing on our healthy bodies!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Sarah and Ms. Mariah
