January 26

Dear River Families,

This week in River we continued working on the human body project and maps of the world! We focused on muscles and organs of the body this week. The children have been studying each continent and learning about how people live all around the world. In our Jr. Great Books we read,”Guinea Fowl and Rabbit Get Justice”, a story contrasting a lazy character with a hard-working character. The children dramatized a scene from this story and related the story to the work done in our classroom. For example, the Guinea Fowl produced more vegetables on his farm and was proud because he worked hard.

In Math this week we finished our unit on comparing sizes and describing different sizes using words. The children sorted and identified different sized items. In Peace lessons this week we read theoretical situations and decided how we can solve the problem using a positive mind vs using a negative mind. In writing this week, the children wrote a non-fiction piece about things that we have and do inside of our classroom.

We will continue sharing Elmer next week. On Tuesday we will celebrate the 100th day of school!

Have a great weekend,

Ms. Stephanie and Ms Lauren
