Hello Birch families!
This week, the Birch class listened to the books, Cuddle Bear, Under The Apple Tree, We Are The Dinosaurs and Good Night Owl. The children also had fun with finger paint, gluing colorful strips on paper, and using dot dot markers at the easel. They also were able to color on black paper with wet chalk, and we experimented with coloring coffee filters with water colors!
For music this week, Ms. Kathleen brought in two guests to talk to us about wood wind and brass instruments – Devon and Olga from the Center for Musical Arts. The children had so much fun singing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” with the instruments and getting to touch them! We also danced with scarves to Mozart and listened to Australian animal sounds! We learned some new songs by Frank Leto, which is awesome to move to!
We spent time practicing to pull our chairs out and push them in with two hands and the children learned a new song about washing hands that we practiced over and over, along with using one pump of soap and one paper towel! Outside, the Birch class continued to enhance their large motor skills by kicking a ball to a partner, jumping up and down with two feet, hopping on our stepping stones an playing in our tunnel.
Next week, we will be talking about reptiles!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Ms. Sarah and Ms. Mariah
