Hello Dogwood families,

This week in the Cedar and Dogwood class’ we learned about Flowers. We pretended to be Flowers growing up to the sun and talked about what colors flowers are and what kinds of different flowers there are. The children also learned about the new bugs we see outside on the playground, talked about how we just look at the bugs and not to touch them and we heard the birds singing and went on a buggy ride to see and smell the growing flowers. We practiced washing babies in the water table, building towers with blocks and pegs and worked on putting our hats on and hanging them up after outside time. In our small group lessons this week we talked about what our favorite color of flower is, and talked about how Mother’s Day and how much we love our Mommy’s.  We sang “Bumblebee” and played “Ring Around The Rosey”.

During circle time, this week we read: Wild Wild Sunflower and Big Hugs, Little Hugs and I Can Share. The children continued building their practical life skills this week by sorting colors, washing mirrors and windows and cleaning the chalk off the sidewalk. This week in art we painted with paper towel rolls to make flowers, and explored with play dough. The children also had the opportunity to plant some flowers and herbs in our planter boxes outside.  They had fun with water bottles spraying the fence and the tarp outside it made a cool sound. They also made sand molds in the sandbox and tried to stack them on top of each other.

In music, this week Ms. Kathleen brought her Guitar and sang us the “Hello” song,  she read and sang  the 3 Little Kittens and  the children danced with scarves to the train and the zoo song.

Have a great weekend!

Ms. Jessica, Ms. Maria, Ms. Delanie, Ms. Jamie, and Ms. Karen and Ms. Brooke
