Hello Aspen families!
We had a busy week learning about space and volcanoes! During circle the children talked about what they could use as transportation into space and how awesome it would be to be an astronaut. The children discussed seeing the moon, sun, and stars in space. In circle we also talked about our home, the planet Earth. We read Space and Rocketship.
For science this week we made our own volcano and watched it erupt! The children loved it! We read Volcanoes and talked about the hot lava cooling down forming rocks and mountains.
This week in literacy the children focused on the letters /s/ and /v/ by tracing the sandpaper letters and practicing the letter sounds. The children also worked on counting, colors, and shapes this week.
In art the children made blue and green texture paintings using sponges and various brushes. The children also marble painted with red and yellow. The children enjoy shaking the box and finding that the marble has created tracks through the paint on the paper.
In music this week the children listened to animal sounds, danced with scarves, and sang finger play songs. Their favorite thing in music was trotting around the classroom to a silly horse song!
In P.E. the children practiced yoga and jumping on two feet. They also tested their balance on the balance beam.
The children also had a visit from Ms. Beth Epley on Friday. They enjoyed singing and dancing with her!
Next week we will be talking about the changing of seasons! Have a wonderful weekend!
