Hello Evergreen Families,
The students have had a busy week. We began the topic of weather and season changes. Many of them already know to call the new season fall and we added autumn as another name for the season. With the cooler temperatures we also discussed how animals are preparing for winter. We learned that some animals grow more fur, some store food and others are eating a lot so that they can hibernate.
With the help of Z (Sanford Harmony) and teachers, students are learning the words to use for expressing their feelings and wants. This week we specifically talked about belonging, we talked about the community we live in and the smaller community of Treehouse Learning then an even smaller community in the classroom of Evergreen.
This week:
- The students began drawing a picture to express/write about their intentional play plan for that work period. You will find writing samples in your parent file. This is like the Message of the Day which is a model for the students to learn from.
- Continued Graphics practice to develop proper pencil grip and beginning of writing.
- Continued the letter Tt with its name, sound and graphic of lower and upper case and adding words that begin with a Tt.
- Manipulation of shapes
Next week we will discuss apples as we transform dramatic play into an apple and pumpkin farm.
Thank you and have a great weekend!
Ms. Kristine, Ms. Brenda, and Ms. April
