Dear Dogwood families,
This week in Cedar and Dogwood we focused on colors and Chinese New Year. We read a book called Zoom Rocket Zoom. This book is a fun book about space and rockets, both of which the children really enjoy! The book that we focused on this week was Did You Say Red? This book is repetitive, which toddler love because they are able to help read the story. We focused on the color red and took every opportunity to point it out whenever we saw it around us.
In art, the children enjoyed using balls to paint and exploring new paint using salt.
For movement children enjoyed using their gross motor skills to balance and spin.
The children practiced sorting and finding hidden objects. They also practiced taking deep breaths and blowing pinwheels. The children really enjoyed watching the pinwheel spin!
We sang songs such as “This Little Light of Mine” and “The Wheels on the Bus.” Our favorite song was “Zoom, Zoom, Zoom.” The lyrics are: Zoom, Zoom, Zoom (rub hands together, back and forth while pointing them up in the air) We’re going to the moon. Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, we’re going to the moon. If you’d like to take a trip, climb aboard my rocket ship. Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, we’re going to the moon. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, (hold 5 fingers up and count down) Blast off! (jump in air).
Next week we will be learning all about fish!
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Kelsey, Ms. Jamie, Ms. Eileen, and Ms. April
